SAE	Society of Automotive Engineers	Premiere world resource for the design, manufacturing, standardization, operation, and maintenance of automobiles.
SAVM	spark advance vacuum modulator	Vacuum actuated spark advance unit provides additional spark advance timing during periods of lower intake manifold vacuum caused by exhaust gas recycle (EGR)
SC	supercharger	A blower that sits below the carburetor / TB and is mechanically run from the crankshaft. Increases air / fuel mixture delivery for more horsepower.
SCB	supercharger bypass	Open when throttle loads are low and closed when throttle loads are high. With the bypass valve open there is no pressure being created across the supercharger. This allows the supercharger not to take away engine energy. With the bypass valve closed, all airflow is routed through the supercharger and boost is created in the intake manifold.

SES	service engine soon	Warning light on dashboard to notify the driver to run a diagnostic test
SFI	sequential fuel injection	System that uses a camshaft position sensor, which then lets ECM determine which fuel injector to fire.
SIR	Supplemental Inflatable Restraint	air bag
SOHC	single overhead cam	One camshaft located above piston / valve train.
SRDV	spark retard delay valve	Cold engine operation delays distributor vacuum spark retard as the vehicle is accelerated to save fuel and reduce emissions.
SRI	service reminder indicator	Dash idiot light
SRS	Supplemental Restraint System	air bag
SRT	system readiness test	Used to indicate whether the ECM has completed a self diagnostic test.
STFT	short term fuel trim	As opposed to LTFT. Fuel trims are expressed in percentages; positive values indicate lean (add fuel) and negative values indicate rich (subtract fuel).
