How
does it mount to the truck?
The AMP Research Bed X-Tender comes with complete instructions and easily mounts in
under 20 minutes. The instructions include a template for proper
placement of the three drill holes on the interior of the truck bed and
no special tools are required, merely a #3 Phillips screwdriver, rubber
mallet and a hand drill.
Does
it work with a bedliner?
Definitely, the mounting hardware is installed over the bedliner, which
provides additional security so the pickup truck
bedliner does not come out of
truck bed.
How
much more room does it give you?
The pickup truck Bed X-Tender goes to the edge of the tailgate giving a compact truck
17" more useable space and 20" more for a full-size truck.
On the new short bed crew cab trucks it still allows you to carry a
motorcycle, ATV or snowmobile and enclose it with the X-Tender in place.
What
is it made out of (how sturdy is it, how long will it last)?
The AMP Research Bed X-Tender tubes are made of 6000 series aluminum while the
connectors are made of high impact nylon composite for rugged, weather
resistant durability that can stand up to rough handling.
Is
it easy to take on and off?
The Bed X-Tender weighs only 9 lbs and when raised to a 90 degree angle, the
cam-lock design allows you to lift it up and easily remove it from your
truck. The X-Tender can also be flipped inward allowing you to close the
tailgate and giving you a secure place to store small items such as
groceries, gas cans, ice chest, etc.
Is
there a Bed X-Tender designed for the Ford Flairside, SuperCrew,
Sportrac?
Yes, model #10-0020 is designed to fit the Flareside, SuperCrew and
Sportrac Truck models. Also fits the GM Silverado Flairside.
I've
heard there is a special Mounting / Strap latch Kit for the Dodge Dakota
and Toyota Tundra?
For the Dakota, we recommend using the large extender #10-0020, then
there is no kit required. (The Toyota Tundra need a Strap Latch Kit item
#10-9900 ) with the #10-0010.
