Installation Notes: Install diodes as close as possible to the taillights. Use a minimum of 14 gauge wire running from the front of the towed vehicle to the rear diode connections. Use a dielectric grease to protect the electrical connections from corrosion. Cover wire / connectors with some form of conduit to protect from electrical shorts. Use ties or clamps to secure harness to the vehicle. Do not attach wiring harness close to moving parts or engine exhaust. Vehicle Exceptions: The taillight harness on the Ford Freestar, 2005 to 2007 and Mercury Monterey 2005 to 2007 can not be cut. Also, problems may arise with vehicles equipped with lamp out modules. Diodes only allow current to flow one way.
